• A four-string violin, viola, cello or doublebass with a

• standard fingerboard. On violins it should have a thickness of about 4,5 mm at the end of the fingerboard.

• "Projection", the angle neck to body, should be normal. On violins the distance between mid-body and upper edge of the end of the fingerboard should be approximately 21 mm.

• Steel strings.
"After having tested many kinds of steel strings (Jargar, Thomastik, Pirastro) I recommend for violin "D'Addario Helicore" and for viola "Pirastro Flexocor/Permanent". They are multi-strand twisted steel core strings. They come near to the sound and feeling of modern wound gut strings. They are just a bit thinner in diameter."
